My Great Grandma, Betty Zane McGee, passed away the middle of March. She was 93 but it was still pretty unexpected. Listening to everyone talk about her at the funeral I really wish I knew her better and I wish I remembered more about her. She was an amazing lady, full of spunk, loved to sing, dance, and play the piano, and was all about positive thinking. She painted and wrote poems.
2 years and 11 months before my Grandma died, my Grandpa died. Before he left, my grandma made him promise that in three years he would come and get her. So that is pretty neat, made her death not so sad.
Quite a legacy!
The funeral was in Mesa, so my Grandma Kay flew us down there. We were pretty nervous about Ryker being on the plane. When we got to the airport, there was the longest line I have ever seen for security. We barely made it to the flight. So that was extremely stressful. But Ryker did awesome on the way there. On the way back, we got on the plane and they had some mechanical problems so we had to wait for awhile. Then the pilot said we would make up the time during the flight, but it was so windy that it pushed back our landing time even farther back. So it was a really long time on the plane. The first hour Ryker kind of struggled, but then he fell asleep for the most of the rest of the flight. So then we just had to deal with dead arms :)
Saturday we had the funeral service, luncheon, pictures, then went the grave site. Sunday we ended up helping my Grandma move some stuff out of Grandma McGee's place. Then we went to the temple.
Monday we went to a water park . It was Ryker's first time at a pool and I was so excited to take him swimming but the water was FREEZING! So he didn't actually go swimming. But once he got used to the water he really enjoyed splashing his hands in it. It was pretty cute.
My dad was really great and watched Ryker while we went on the rides.
Tuesday, we went to the zoo. I don't think Ryker had any idea what was going on, just that it was exhausting - as you can see in the picture haha
Then later that day we flew home. It was so good to see my family and all my extended family. They were finally able to meet Ryker and I was able to see my cousin's cute little boy. Wish we could have spent more time with everyone.
I had Caitlin take this picture at the funeral. I just love how it captures who my dad is perfectly. He is so Christlike and just makes everyone feel so important. ...but it was pretty funny and cute seeing him sit with all these little girls, who just adore him.
We flew in late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning when Ryker woke up he kept looking for Mozzie. Almost every morning Mozzie runs into Ryker's room when I go in there. They both get really excited, so Ryker was trying to figure out where she was at. We went and picked her up from Don's. She was pretty excited to see us. On our drive back, I looked in the back seat and saw Mozzie sitting on Ryker's lap. It made me laugh. Ryker thought it was pretty cool, until he realized she was kind of heavy haha
