Kev and I met our Sophomore year of high school. We were at a basketball game, I was trying to get him to sit by my friend. (I'm very grateful to my friend for giving me the chance to meet Kev haha). Our friendship started there. I always loved hanging out with Kevin, he just loved life and it was contagious. We were just really good friends all through high school. We went to a dance together, and we were in almost every single dance group together.
We look so young!
Ignore my hair- definitely not my favorite hair choice.
Anyways, after we graduated high school, I went off to BYU and Kev went to BYU-I. The summer after our first year of college we hung out quite a bit and then in May he left on his mission to Houston Texas. The night I had to say good bye to him, was the night I realized Kev meant more to me than as a friend. We wrote back and forth for the two years. The summer after my junior year I had an internship in California. In one of my letters to Kev I had jokingly said that he should come to California. Kev said sure, so I said that he should come at the end of my internship so that he can drive back with me. When he got home from his mission, we talked on the phone and I found out he was serious about coming to California. So, my mom bought his plane ticket and Kev flew to California. I was SO nervous to pick him up! I didn't know what to except. When he got off the flight he didn't recognize me (with my natural hair color), I had to yell at him for him to see me. California was a lot of fun. I was grateful that Kev drove home, I ended up getting sick and would not have made it home.
We walked around the Walt Disney Studios. The above picture is of where they shot part of Newsies.
Once we got back from California we hung out quite a bit. On August 24 we were at his house watching Hunger games with his family when we first held hands. I thought his mom was going to say something and I was TERRIFIED! haha After that point things went pretty quickly. On September 13 Kev picked me up for a normal date. He was wearing a brown shirt, brown shoes, nice jeans and looked so very handsome! He asked where I wanted to go for dinner. I said I didn't care, so he "chose" Olive Garden. We got there and come to find out he was reservations. The waiters seemed to treat us kind of weird but I didn't really pick up on it. They took us to a table in a separate room. I just thought we got lucky, having our own room. After we ordered, Kev left to go to the bathroom. He came back...along with his roommate, Will, playing the guitar and his other roommate, Zac, recording. I was kind of confused, but thought it was so sweet that Kev was going to sing a song. Then I saw the red box!!!! Kev started singing the song "Then" by Brad Paisly. At the end, he got on one end, and asked me to marry him. I couldn't stop smiling and laughing, but muffled out "Yes"! I could NOT stop looking at my ring. It was beautiful and so shiny! I knew he was going to get the ring with my sister, but I didn't think they had any time to go ring shopping yet. So I was just SHOCKED when he asked me.
Right after dinner.
We decided to get married in December so the planning started right away. My Aunt took our engagement pictures, which I loved.
I am so grateful for my mom. I was too busy with school so I told her the colors I wanted, and she helped completely plan my wedding. I loved all of it! We took our wedding pictures in the freezing cold! Seriously I think it was close to zero degrees. But I absolutely LOVE my wedding pictures!
At the last second I had to make my own bouquet. I love it and with it being fake it will last forever!
Kev absolutely hates this picture, he thinks he looks like a nerd. ...which he might look that way...but still love the picture!
We got married the morning of December 29, 2012. It seemed unreal! It was a beautiful, sunny yet very cold day. After the wedding we went to Kev's church for lunch. That night we had the reception at my church. But it was decorated with white curtains all around the whole gym, with checkered flooring, so it didn't look like a church gym :)
My sister-in laws and father-in law made our cake, I am quite impressed. I could have never done it.
Look at the difference in size from my family and Kev's! I am the oldest in my family and Kev is the youngest of 9! I love all the family I gained!
Kev was not happy about his car.
For our honeymoon, we went to Bear Lake. It was beautiful! We went snowmobiling, skiing/snowboarding, and just enjoyed the break.
Well, that is how Kev and I met, and the beginning of our married life. We have now been married for over a year a half. It has flown by. I still have days where I can't believe I am married! And yet, I feel like I have been with Kev forever! I honestly feel like I am the luckiest girl in the world! I I am so excited to see where life leads us and the adventures we will have.
