Our Month of May:
Our Neice, Caitlyn, got married at the Provo City Center Temple. We were so excited to go to the temple, we watched them build the temple but moved to Seattle before it was finished. It was beautiful. The weather was beautiful, the flowers were beautiful. And Caitlyn was beautiful!
Pretending to sleep haha
She could swing for hours if I let her!
How cute are these two?! Fun at the Zoo. Ryker LOVES spending time with Kennedy.
The kids and I went down to Utah with my mom for my cousin, Kaylee's, farewell. We stopped at the Aquarium and met up with Ryan and Caitlin. The kids LOVED it.
We also went to Cabella's and saw their BIG fish and other animals.
She is starting to climb on everything
Look at those lips! haha
She loves sitting on this chair
Ryker's 3rd birthday! He got a tennis racket, tennis balls, a baseball mitt, and a baseball. He was pretty excited about it all!
Ryker got a scooter from Grandpa and Grandma Cook.
He had to have another dinosaur cake this year!
We had the chance to go to Cancun Mexico - it was a dream come true for me. Ever since I read a book when I was 14, I have wanted to go there. The day we got there, it was hot and beautiful. Unforutenately it didn't stay that way haha
Monday we didn't have anything planned. We ended up going to a presentation on becomming a member at the hotel. It lasted FOREVER!!!!!! Kev was to nice to them but I finally had to say NO we are not interested haha But since we listened to the presentation we got all our meals paid for at the hotel. During the presentation we took a boat between the hotels - Which is when the weather started getting very gloomy, windy and rainy. So the rest of the day we didn't do much. That night we met an older couple from Paraguay. They only spoke Spanish - Kev was in heaven haha They were super nice and still tried to involve me in the conversation. We spoke to them throughout the week.
Tuesday we had a tour with Alma's LDS Tour Group. It was AMAZING! Best thing we did. I wish I could remember everything I learned! We also had a fun group. We had a family from Provo. The Husband was a football coach the prior season. Our first stop was Tulum.
There were big iguanas everywhere - they kind of freaked me out.
Saw these cool animals running around. They were like racoons kind of.
This was their temple. Over the first two entrances they had two figures, the third entrances was blank - as in the god head - The Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Their God had feathers around his head, symbolizing the light around them. The God's head was down and the feet up, symbolizing that God will descend onto Earth.
They way the built things were amazing. They had holes, where the sun or moon would shine through at only certian times - whether yearly or every couple years. They were very knowledgable about the stars, sun, and planets.
Our next stop was a cenote. These are natural caves that held water. We ate lunch and then climbed down a bumch of stars to go swimming. It was kind of chilly, and it was raining. But it was pretty!
Our final stop was Chichen Itza
Their Ball Court.
Along this wall, was a lot of carvings/art. Our tour guide showed us a picture of what it looked like and explained the carvings. He said it was a honor to be chosen to play game. The winners were killed, the captian's head cut off. But it was an honor, because the winners were able to save their family that had died - kind of like temple work.
The acousitcs in this court was AMAZING!
This was at the end of the ball court. Inside the building there is an engraving - that looks like God.
This is where the winner's head's went.
If you would clap your hands, the building would make it sound like a bird. It was their warning sound.
Once a year the sun hits the snakes perfectly to make it look like it is descending, I'm pretty sure it is in April.
Wednesday we went to Xel Ha. On the bus ride there a couple (in their 40s?) over heard our conversation about the houses we had looked at to buy in Idaho Falls. They were realtors from California and couldn't believe the home prices were that low. It was fun talking to them on the way there and back. The weather was TERRIBLE! It was pouring rain most of the day. But they had a little ropes course over the water, some little zip lines, floating bridge, a little cave you could swim into, a huge lighthouse that had a slide (it was kind of freaky being up there because you could feel it move with the wind), and then we snorkled.
Thursday we went to Xplore. Again, the weather was terrible!!! Pouring rain. It was so cold. But they had a huge ropes course. It was fun ...although with the rain and wind pelting you it was kind of painful haha They had some other fun activities to do.
Friday we went with a tour group to see Ek Balam. We were SO sad we did not to it with the LDS tour group. Ek Balam was awesome though! Since not as many people go to it, we were able to climb everything.
Their tiny ball court.
Markings at their temple.
The way the man is holding his hands was VERY interesting and neat to us!
It's hard to see, but in the door way if a picture of a white man teaching brown men.
The veiw on top of the temple. It was terrifying climbing up it and climbing back down it!
What the warriors could have looked like for the ball game, and a replica of the ball they played with.
Afterwards we stopped at a town and walked around their markets. It was interesting!
So their beach looked like this most of the week. Playing in the water was gross because there was just so much seaweed. I was so confused as to why people loved the beach here.
Well Saturday came and it was BEAUTIFUL! We were shocked at how different the beach was, just overnight. It was a great way to finish our vacation!
Our resort had different dinner activities throughout the week. One night they had a Micheal Jackson night. It was so much fun! They did a great job dancing to it. Saturday night they had a dance competition. We got picked to go up there, twice. I turned down the first person and then another person came and dragged us up there. We had to dance until the announcer said a word and we had to do the action to that word and freeze when they yelled stop. It was so hot! But we did awesome and Won! ...a big thing of Alcohol. haha And Kev was wearing a BYU shirt. We ended up giving it to the people who got 2nd but I wish I would have gotten a picture first. Sunday we had a couple come up and talk to us at breakfast. They were church members from Utah. We made sure they knew we had given the alcohol to the 2nd place winners haha.
My family was so great and watched our kids while we were gone. They were spoiled! And we missed them so much!
Ryker got pretty attached to Maddy and was always sad when she went to school. The bottom right is when Kev was doing facetime with Ryker. Ryker loves the warewolf face!
Ryker got to go to the Zoo and have a picnic with Grandpa Cook.
Top left: Ryker had waited ALL day to go on the lawnmower with Grandpa. Ryker really enjoyed it haha. Ryker loves playing with Maddy's friends.
We were so excited to see our kids! Gratefully they were excited to see us too haha. We showed them the souvenirs we got.
Just chilling with Dad
